Excitement as educational Trips commence
Our learners and educators were excited to hear that this year, educational excursions will once more take place. The occurrence of trips was halted, together with other activities, due to the announcement of Lockdowns and Covid-19 restrictions. Needless to say, this was a huge disappointment to learners, however, restrictions were necessary to ensure safety.
As per our Trips policy, at Nyukani, the venue selected has to align with the curriculum of the specific grades. Our trips serve as entertainment and a form of a motivator for learners, however, they serve a greater purpose than merely socialising or relieving boredom; they come back with a wealth of knowledge and memories which will help learners in numerous ways. Besides providing numerous experiences, trips allow learners to engage with content and make their book knowledge alive. This is essential to help them make connections between their curricula and what they learn at school with the real world.
Trips season began this term with Nyukani Junior taking a trip to the mall where they watched a movie at a cinema and enjoyed a miniature train ride around the mall. For many of our Junior Nyukanites, it was the first time going to a cinema and therefore, this will be the most memorable event of their lives.
