1) Establishing New Traditions
All our Grade 8 learners in the school have a Grade 12 mentor allocated to them to be their “big brother or sister” while at school. The Grade 12 mentors will share important information about the ethos and culture of Nyukani with their mentees and make sure that they continue to build a positive and supportive culture in the school. A new tradition has been implemented which will see the Grade 8s taking turns to raise and strike the national and school flags daily. We look forward to the Grade 8s carrying out this duty faithfully in the year ahead.

2) Certificates of Appreciation Awarded.
As a token of appreciation, the Spirit Committee in the High School handed out certificates of participation to learners who took part in the Miss Valentine 2019 pageant held at the Valentine’s Social on Friday 15 February. The girls stood out in various aspects and were awarded according to the areas in which they shone through. Many girls wanting to be professional models will be joining the new modelling club launched by the committee. Congratulations to all who were recognised for their efforts.

3) Junior Athletes Recognised.
Many of our Primary School learners took part in the Circuit trials for athletics recently. The athletes who excelled in the categories they participated in were awarded certificates during the Primary School assembly. Nyukani is committed to enabling learners to excel in a variety of activities including sport, cultural and academic pursuits. We intend our children to grow into well rounded adults.

4) Volleyball Victory.
On Saturday 23 February our High School volleyball team played their very first match this year. against 2 schools, Khanyisa Education Centre and Kingfisher, and won all their games. We’d like to congratulate the team for making us proud. We look forward to seeing them succeed in future games this year. We already have an invitation to participate in Khanyisa’s next sporting event in May and we will be securing other fixtures with independent schools in our region.
