1) NEC at Provincial Transport Debate
Lulama Makhubele and Hlamarisa Ndleve, both from Nyukani represented Mopani District at the Provincial Transport Debate held at the Ranch Hotel just outside Polokwane on Saturday 11 August. By all accounts our two learners represented our District very well by providing high quality arguments that were confidently presented throughout the competition. Unfortunately neither of them were selected to represent the province but we are very proud of their efforts and we know they benefited from the experience. Well done, girls!

2) Inter-school Cross-country Competition at Giyani Stadium
Athletes from both the Primary School and the High School took part in an inter-school cross-country competition held at Giyani Stadium on Wednesday 8 August. Four athletes have qualified for the next round.

3) Friendly Rivalry Continues
Our U19 soccer team played a friendly practice match against the 1st team of Giyani High School on Tuesday 7 August. The match, as we have come to expect between our two schools, was a very closely contested affair. To add to the occasion, this was the first time that a soccer match was played at Nyukani on the school’s soccer field. In the end Nyukani took full advantage of playing on their home ground and ran out 2 – 1 winners. Well done to our boys. We can be sure of many similar encounters in the future.

4) Experiential Learning
Our youngsters in the Pre-school and the Foundation Phase are given many opportunities to learn concepts in a very concrete way and by providing real life experiences for the learners. In Grade R the children are currently learning about the work that people do. As part of this theme the youngsters will be taken on an outing to visit a dentist, the fire station and the police station. They will also pass by the post office. The learners will also enjoy a treat at one of the restaurants in town before returning to school. In the photograph learners can be seen role playing a scene from the dentist. One can only imagine what is playing out in their young minds. 🙂
